QQI

Quality and Qualifications Ireland

What is QQI?

Dublin College Sallynoggin offers courses at QQI Levels 5 and 6. You might be unsure what this means.

QQI, or Quality and Qualifications Ireland

is the national agency responsible for establishing and maintaining the standards of QQI awards. As the primary awarding body for Further Education and Training, as well as for many Higher Education institutions, QQI ensures that all qualifications are acknowledged within the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). This recognition means that qualifications awarded by QQI are valid not only in Ireland but also internationally.

QQI: National Framework of Qualifications

You can find out more information about QQI at www.qqi.ie

The National Framework of Qualifcations has 10 levels from Level 1 (literacy qualifications) through to Level 10 (doctoral degrees). This structured framework allows you to understand potential pathways for educational progression, compare qualifications from other countries to their Irish equivalents, and facilitate the recognition of your Irish qualification when considering opportunities abroad.

Achieving a QQI Level 5 or 6 award allows for progression into an Ordinary or Honours Degrees course at Levels 7 and 8. In some cases a Level 6 award may allow for advanced entry into a degree course (i.e. enabling you to skip year 1 and enter at Year 2)
