It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear former Principal Fred Meaney after a short illness. Fred spent many years as a Teacher in the former secondary school, Sallynoggin Technical School, where he inspired and influenced so many young people in the local community. He went on to take up the role of Principal in 1997 and managed the transition from a secondary school to a dedicated and dynamic college of Further Education under Dún Laoghaire VEC. During his time as Principal he made his mark through his foresight, vision and unwavering determination to grow the college and provide the most holistic and caring approach to teaching and learning. His passion for education was infectious, he thought above and beyond his role as a Teacher and Principal, this we have no doubt has left a long lasting impression and influence on the many students and staff that have passed through the doors of SCFE and will for years to come.
Our sincere condolences to Fred’s wife Sinéad Connolly, a Teacher and Assistant Principal in SCFE, his children Sarah, Susan and Michelle, grandchildren, all the family and extensive circle of very close friends and Lola. May his dear soul rest in Peace.
Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann, ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
On behalf of the staff in SCFE and Dublin and Dún laoghaire Education and Training Board
