The Advanced Early Childhood Care and Education course is suited to participants who have already achieved Level 5 Certificate or equivalent in Childcare or related areas and who wish to develop their career opportunities. Learners who complete this course will be in a position to work in a Management/Supervisory capacity in a variety of childcare services and to start their own business in the Childcare Sector.

Learners who successfully complete a QQI Level 6 Certificate may be able to use their results to progress to related Level 7 and Level 8 Degree Programmes in Irish Universities and Institutes of Technology. Third level progression opportunities for QQI learners are continually being developed and enhanced. Please visit www.qqi.ie or www.cao.ie for the most up to date information. Graduates of this QQI Level 6 course may also be considered for advanced entry to Year 2 of a related Degree programme in third level institutions in Ireland and the UK.

Former learners have progressed to third level colleges such as NUI Maynooth, DIT, IT Blanchardstown, Waterford IT and IT Carlow to study degree programmes in Early Childhood Teaching and Learning, Early Childhood Care and Education

Work Experience

Learners will undertake organised work experience one day a week at a supervisory level in a variety of Health Service Executive (HSE) approved services including the Free Preschool Year services.

Upskilling to a QQI Level 6 Childcare qualification in Sallynoggin College has enabled me to ensure I am right up to date with the delivery of Aistear – the National Curriculum Framework and Síolta the National Quality Framework and all other legislation required to provide a high quality childcare service.
