Art, Craft & Design Portfolio Preparation – Dublin

QQI Level 5 Certificate in Art 5M1985

Duration: One Year Full-Time

At Sallynoggin College of Further Education, near Dun Laoghaire in Dublin we offer an Art Portfolio course, which is designed to help learners develop their skills in drawing, painting, 3D studies and life drawing, using a variety of media and materials including monoprint, pastels, charcoal etc. While preparing a high quality portfolio, learners will also have the opportunity to complete a QQI Level 5 Award in Art with the potential to gain a maximum of 400 CAO points for entry into third level institutions. By doing this course, learners are better prepared for degree programmes as it enables them to make informed decisions regarding college and course choices. It also gives them the confidence in their ability to succeed in a higher educational environment.

“I would recommend Art, Craft & Design at SCFE to anyone who wants to study a related subject at degree level. The variety of modules is a great asset to your portfolio. Although I did not have a Leaving Cert on entry, I achieved 400 CAO points with the full QQI award, which, in combination with my portfolio, enabled me to gain entry to NCAD. I completed an honours degree in Art & Design History & Visual Communication before going on to start my own design and illustration practice.”

Learners who successfully complete a QQI Level 5 Certificate may be able to use their results to progress
to related Level 7 and Level 8 Degree Programmes in Irish Universities and Institutes of Technology. Third level
