While working in a studio-based environment you will develop skills in costume design, pattern cutting, garment construction, and historical costume research. The course will allow you to explore fashion influences, historical periods, and character references to inform your designs. By exploring the development of costume and dress across different time periods you will gain knowledge of costume history and silhouettes for designing period costumes.
A key focus of the course is on costume construction techniques, including pattern drafting for women’s garments and assembling costumes for a speculative performance project.
