Duration: 3 Day Week September to May
Coordinator: Annmarie Greevy
The overall aim of the Advanced Art & Design programme is to provide the student with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skills and competence to work independently in a fine art/design context or to progress to higher education and training. This course is designed for those who want to develop a professional practice in the visual arts. It encourages creativity, increases skills and develops self-belief. By the end of the year students will have a collection of work complied through a series of projects which they will have the opportunity to showcase at the annual Art & Photography exhibition.
The course is suitable for:
- Learners who have achieved a QQI level 5 Certificate in Art and would benefit from a second year to complete their portfolio preparation for entry to Institutes of Technology and Art Colleges.

“I was a mature student in SCFE and achieved the QQI Level 6 award in Advanced Art. The encouragement and enthusiasm on the course helped me get a place in IADT, which I have deferred until next September as I am working in Signal Arts in Bray. I wanted to experience working in the area of Art before going on to college. Thanks again to everyone in SCFE.”
