College Facilities, Supports and Services

Career Guidance / Counselling Service

SCFE offers both a professional guidance service and a counselling service free of charge to all registered learners.

Learners may also avail of advice and guidance on third level/CAO and UCAS (UK) application progression and how to apply for the Disability Access Route to Education (DARE) and Higher Education Access Route (HEAR) schemes.

SCFE Student Council

SCFE encourages learners to participate in the College Student Council (SC), which is elected annually to represent the interests of learners to management. The SC is also involved in organising social events and activities throughout the year, as well as extensive fund-raising for charity. The SC plays a role in the annual election of learner representatives to the College Board of Management.

DDLETB Student Society

SCFE as a constituent of DDLETB is one of the participating colleges of the DDLETB students society.  The society organises social, sporting and other events during the academic year and gives our learners the opportunity to interact with learners from other DDLETB colleges.

Learning Support

In certain circumstances, some learners may need additional supports to enable them to benefit fully from their course. The Higher Education Authority (HEA) Fund for students with disabilities aims to assist students with disabilities and specific learning difficulties to participate in further education courses. Registered learners may apply for support under this fund, through the College, at course registration. Documentary evidence verifying the learner’s disability must be provided, enabling the College to submit an application to the Higher Education Authority (HEA). The support available to learners depends on the grant, if any, allocated by the HEA. Further information on the fund for students with disabilities is available on www.studentfinance.ie.

SCFE Work Placement and Erasmus

Work Placement and ERASMUS

SCFE offers fully funded international travel and training opportunites to students through the Erasmus+ Programme.  The college has established partnerships Norway and Spain where students from some courses have the opportunity to complete a work experience placement. We believe that the opportunity to travel, gain understanding of European cultures and learn professional skills through a work experience placement is will further boost the professional profile of these SCFE students when they graduate.  Over the coming years SCFE plans expand on our experience and  increase Erasmus opportunities for students.
