INTRODUCTION

Sallynoggin College of Further Education is one of three colleges run by Dun Laoghaire VEC. The College offers a diverse range of courses for Post Leaving Certificate and mature students.

All courses are of one or two years duration and have strong links with industry and the professions. Students who successfully complete their studies at the College gain the necessary qualifications to enter their chosen career or to continue their studies at third level.

FETAC - Progression Pathways to Higher Education
A number of course places are available in Institutes of Technology and Universities for applicants who hold a full FETAC Level 5 Certificate. Two Schemes are in operation - the Pilot Scheme and the Higher Education Links Scheme (HELS). Under both Schemes, application is made through the CAO, and FETAC results are used as the basis for calculating points. A full FETAC award may be achieved over more than one year.

The Pilot Scheme - Most Higher Education places are open to FETAC applicants under this Scheme, but some courses may require certain specified modules. FETAC results are converted into CAO points using the best eight modules presented, up to a maximum of 400 points. For specific details, visit www.fetac.ie or www.cao.ie

The Higher Education Links Scheme (HELS)
Under this Scheme, a limited number of places are available on specified courses for applicants who hold a full FETAC Certificate in a linked area. For specific details, visit www.fetac.ie or www.cao.ie, or check with the Admissions Office of the relevant Institute of Technology or University.

Some courses have also established progression routes to Universities and Colleges in the UK.
